i was remiss in my 3rd utah vacation post. on tuesday, august 18th, grant hiked up to his old hut with his dad. grant didn't take the camera but luckily his dad did:
grant built this between the 'g' mountain and timpanogos, with his friends, jared (my brother), jd, jeff and spencer. they used to sleep up there, even after a mountain lion came a-calling one night. it's been abandoned for around 10 years. i think grant was really excited to unearth the treasures. he's always talking about digging up mummies and papyrus. he and his dad didn't find anything quite that exciting. after wading around all of the stinging nettle, they found the old tin that held their supplies, i.e. duct tape, gloves, little debbie cakes, silverware, a hatchet:grant took it while we were battling for our lives at the alligator park. he's very proud of it.

you'd never know it now, but the fort was a pretty happening place in its day, complete with stone-and-concrete fireplace, cot-type beds, and a plants-in-dirt-on-tarp roof for camo and water resistant purposes.
LOL I have a feeling that you are NEVER going back to the alligator park.....
I'm glad to finally get to see your hut. You forgot to mention it had a fold-down bed (or am I dreaming?), and you diverted the stream somewhere nearby to create a pond. So was it on the back side of the G mountain, or the front of Baldy? Somehow I thought you took a right turn going up Battle Creek.
Plus, what birds would those be? They look like mini cranes.
that is so cool. I'm so impressed with his "without a paddle" experiences LOL. Very cool
Ah, boys. Good thing they survived. :)
Also, nice picture, Grant.
